In a recent report, leading consulting firm #Gartner unveiled the top 5 priorities and trends for #HR leaders in 2023.

In a survey of 800 HR managers, #Leader and #Manager #effectiveness is the top priority (60%). 

  • Challenges in Leadership Development: 
    About 24% of individuals find their leadership development lacking due to changing work conditions, such as social unrest, hybrid work models, and work-life integration. A novel ‘humancentric’ leadership approach is gaining prominence, focusing on authenticity, empathy, and adaptability.

  • Focus on Organizational Design and Change Management:
    A significant 53% prioritize organizational design and change management. Employees are grappling with ‘change fatigue’ due to digital transformation, economic uncertainty, and political unrest. To address this, an open-source change strategy is recommended for collaborative decision-making and effective implementation planning.

  • Employee Experience as a Priority:
    Among HR managers, 47% have identified employee experience as a key priority. This pertains to the critical issue of retaining talent, as employees often seek better compensation, professional growth prospects, and alternative career paths.

  • Enhanced Communication for Career Advancement:
    A potential solution involves improving communication with employees. They seek clarity on the various avenues for career advancement within the organization.

  • Recruiting Challenges:
    Among survey respondents, 46% have indicated that recruiting is a high-priority area. This is underscored by the challenge of securing the right talent for specific positions in today’s labor market, characterized by low supply and retention rates driven by hybrid work arrangements.

  • Skills Gap in Sourcing Strategies:
    Consequently, 36% of HR leaders have expressed that their existing sourcing strategies fall short in identifying the necessary skills.

Gartner proposes three solutions

To address this issue effectively, Gartner proposes three solutions: 

– leveraging diverse sources
– establishing a fair internal labor market
– crafting onboarding programs that foster new hire engagement through emotional proximity.

The Future of Work

Examining the #future of #work is a primary concern for 42% of HR managers. Stemming from the intricate challenge of workforce planning amidst evolving skill requirements:

– talent scarcity
– heightened turnover rates
– transformations in the employer-employee relationship.

A possible solution?

As a proposed solution, the consulting firm suggests proactively addressing near-term changes by :

– assessing tasks and workflows
– deploying tasks with flexibility
– exploring inventive sourcing models
– empowering both parties to collaboratively shape and attain their desired modes of operation.
